The next Village Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 6th, due to a scheduling conflict with September 13th. All Board meetings will now begin at 6:00 p.m. due to the number of topics to be covered and only having one meeting per month.

Gowanda on the Move Wellness Walk
Sponsored by the Gowanda PTA and Healthy Community Alliance, in partnership with the Village of Gowanda’s Safe Routes to School Initiative and the Food Bank of WNY, a Wellness Walk will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2016. All proceeds will go to support the Gowanda Elementary School Backpack Program. Registration is 8:45 a.m.; the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Gowanda Middle School. The $5.00 registration fee fills one backpack with food -two breakfasts, two lunches and two pieces of fresh fruit. Snacks will be provided for the walkers.
Village of Gowanda New Garbage regulations
The Village of Gowanda will no longer be providing curbside garbage pickup, effective May 26, 2016. Beginning June 1st, Village residents will need to contract with individual waste collectors for this service. As of May 12, the permitted waste collectors are:

Residents can also take their garbage/recyclables to the Dayton Transfer Station. Dump tickets are needed for garbage, recycling is free. Tickets for garbage/large household items can be purchased at the Persia Town Hall and Gowanda Shop ‘n Save. Hours at the transfer station are Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Gowanda Sewage Treatment Plant Recyclable Area on Aldrich Street will still accept metal and plastic recylables. Days and times of operation have expanded: Mondays and Wednesdays from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-10 a.m.
Site and Community Visioning Tours Planned for Saturday, February 27

To help focus its revitalization efforts, the Village of Gowanda has undertaken a number of significant efforts which have resulted in the potential for additional plans for moving forward with individual aspects of community redevelopment. One of these efforts, the NYS Brownfield Opportunity Area Step 1 Pre-Nomination Study, which is lead by C&S Companies, is currently in progress. In order to ensure that the local community is given a voice in the redevelopment planning for the Study Area, we are extending an open invitation to join us for the second round of Site Analysis and Community Visioning Tours, which will take place on February 27, 2016, beginning at 10 am at Village Hall, with the second to begin at 12 pm.
