Movie Schedule:

May 27th  7pm  MOVIE:  Navajo Code Talkers

During World War II, Navajo soldiers contributed one of the conflict’s most vital yet least publicized achievements by weaving their native language into an unbreakable code. Via interviews with surviving code talkers, this History Channel documentary sheds light on the Navajo troops’ role, valor and motivations. The program also details their legacy’s effect on contemporary Navajo and how the cipher has aided the United States since the war.

May 28th MOVIES:

1pm MOVIE: Last Letters Home

Ten families read letters from their loved ones killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom in this powerful and moving HBO documentary by Oscar and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Bill Couturie (Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam). Photos of the soldiers in military and civilian life are shown as family members read the final correspondence received from Iraq and share their thoughts and memories about the fallen troops and the realities of war.

3pm MOVIE:  Inside the Green Berets

Tragedy strikes while a National Geographic film crew follows a Green Beret unit in Afghanistan helping local residents fight the Taliban in this compelling documentary. When an explosion hits, both soldiers and documentarians are affected. The resulting film offers an inside look at the realities of war and the sacrifices these tough-as-nails elite fighters make daily. An interview with producer Steven Hoggard is included.
